For those of you that like immediate results, I'd like to talk briefly (since you won't read past 2 paragraphs) about why God takes His own time to deliver His will to us...
He seems to think that He's still in control (yes that is sarcasm, not blasphemy). In fact, He takes quite a few opportunities to remind me that He is in control and that I am still subservient to His will. Every time that I press Him to move quickly on a situation, God seems to make me wait. I used to think it was for the purpose of just showing off, but now I've come to realize that it's more to do with making me think.
God expects us to be rational, logical, and emotional human beings. Emotions are never to control the logic, nor is the rational thought to control every single emotion. I believe that God makes us stop and think about things, because He desires that we make pure choices. God does not, nor has He ever, will for us to blindly walk through life - He expects us to consider the larger picture of His will and then to act upon His spiritual guidance.
So, the next time that you think that God is taking His precious, sweet time in answering you, consider this: it's His prerogative. He tells us what is good for us - that perfect and pleasing will - so try giving Him the opportunity to do so. I think He'd rather that you double-check the parachute, than base jump and take a chance on whether or not you packed the parachute correctly. What's a few more seconds...minutes...hours...days? If you die before you get the answer, you could always ask God in person.
This is sooo true!! I couldn't figure out why my schedule changed so I couldn't go to church on Sundays. It seemed like God was telling me that I was not supposed to be in the ministry. I started questioning him and couldn't get an answer. One day I realized that it wasn't God taking away my ability to lead SPLATT, he was reenergizing my passion and love for the group. He was pulling me closer to him and getting me to focus more on him then on leading SPLATT. The crazy thing is, once I realized this, and put it all in his hands, he found a way to change my schedule. SO now... I have Sundays off!!!
