Fasting

Well, we just completed our first of two fasting days. We fasted this Thursday and will fast again next Thursday. What surprised me was the fact that I was not hungry for the first 18 hours, but then everything hit at once. The headache, the hunger, he cravings! Wow - it was like a bus had hit me. I was so grateful for food!

But while I found the time to be important, something I enjoyed even better was the fact that so many of our youth were actually trying it. I know that it didn't happen like they expected it to. Nor did it have the outcome that I think some were expecting. But in all I felt that it was a very successful fast, because the kids TRIED!

As we've been discussing in JOE taking the first step is possibly the most important. So if you are reading this post, I encourage you not to give in to the fear that so easily grips us when something hard comes our way. We have to press forward and do hard things! Isn't that what separates the sheep from the goats?!
